The Lion Hotel - Buckden (Cambridgeshire)

The room had a nice old charm, but the musty smell was off-putting.

I appreciated the king room with good furniture and the bedroom plus tea/coffee. Overall the service was very good. The hotel was in an ideal and nice location for overnight stay.

Nothing negative to say.

The staff are amazing friendly people.

Charming Atmosphere But Room Needs Attention

I really appreciated the freshly decorated bar/lounge area and the inviting atmosphere right when I stepped in. My room, although spacious and with a four-poster bed, had some maintenance issues like a leaking bath, which dampened my experience a bit. The dining was decent, but service felt a little slow during peak times. I hope they can improve on the upkeep of the rooms .

The food is fab and tasty. The hotel staff is efficient and accommodating. We will be back for a good experience.

The rooms are large and the bed is comfy. Near to the downtown, 5 minutes on foot. The breakfast was included and had lots of meals. We loved climate control, a sitting area and a writing table. Good value...

Charming historical building

Lots of gorgeous options for meal.

The historical charm of The Lion Hotel is captivating, especially the beautifully decorated bar area that adds warmth to the atmosphere.

Unfortunately, the shower pressure was rather weak, making it difficult to find a comfortable water temperature .

Oh, the scones! They were utterly good, paired beautifully with a fresh cup of tea. Plus, the lovely room had quirky decor. The bath was just what I needed after a day out exploring!

I feel guilty at leaving such a poor review but the building is awful. Yes, it has old charm, but that doesn't mean it's acceptable to be shabby or musty. A serious overhaul is needed. Those carpets are in dire need of replacement!

Had a blast with friends! We enjoyed sailing and windsurfing. The staff were super friendly and cute. The historical charm of the place added to our experience, and we loved mingling with locals in the pub area.

We encountered a service issue one morning as nobody was around to help us or serve breakfast, quite disappointing.

The lack of organized dining operations leads to frustrating delays during peak times!!! Observe the noise from the bar area that may disrupt your sleep!!! Better maintenance of communal areas would also be appreciated!!!

We had a lovely family gathering with 20 members at this charming place. Meals were hearty and flavorful, especially the homemade pizzas! We enjoyed a day out sailing at nearby Grafham Water.

My wife says that the lack of a phone in the room was a hassle.

I enjoyed my recent stay, especially the quaint bar area with its wood fire atmosphere and the quirky, well-presented rooms. The food didn't meet my expectations.

The Beautiful Double Room was charming, with a four-poster bed that felt super romantic. The large bath was a real treat too. It had a nice historic feel. There was a bit of mustiness in the room, a turn-off. The room was clean and comfy enough for a night stay.
